i love my classes this year....

I love my classes this year. I have three classes this year. I teach them each Spelling, Reading, and English. Two of my classes only have 14 kids in them. For the first time in 13 years, I actually feel like I am a teacher! Not a jail warden, or a probation officer, or a police officer, or a referee, or a mediator...but a real life teacher. It is so nice.

This is why I love it this year:

1. My kids say, "Bye Mrs. Hauser, see you on Monday" and wave to me when they are leaving on a Friday.

2. My students want me to hurry up and grade their spelling tests so they can take them home and show their moms.

3. My students still "snitch" or tell on their classmates when they are doing something that is not nice.

4. My students actually care if I call their houses.

Best Reason:
5. Their behavior is basically good in class, so I can actually "teach" them things. I can make them do things in class for "practice" and not a "grade" and they actually do it!

I feel like I am teaching and I feel like they are learning and it is so nice.

Wow! It's great to have a year like that! A few years ago we had small class sizes - around 17 and it was wonderful. Now we've had to make staff cuts and our class sizes are all around 30! It makes a huge difference. I have a few really sweet kids this year that say, "Thank you for helping me." before they leave my room for intervention. Great kids are great to teach.

I'm so glad you're having a better year. From years my mom has had in the past, it seems like one truly bad bunch comes along every so often. It seems to be cyclical. Ask my mom about the "bizarro bunch" sometime. It's been like 10 years, and she still talks about that class!
