Why?

Why did I do it??

We had "Wellness Day" today at school. Today is the prom for our students, so the kids are off of school but we had in-service. Our morning speaker cancelled at the last minute and the organizers had to scramble to find someone. It turned out to be such a good thing because the speaker they did find was absolutley wonderful! He was one of the best speakers that our district ever has gotten for an in-service program--(mind you I have worked in this district for 13 years and have attended a good 5-7 in-services a year. You can do the math.) But anyway, you could have heard a pin drop in the auditorium today while this man was speaking. He was so uplifting and motivating. He was supposed to speak on character education. I am not really sure if that is what he talked about or not, but it was very good. I guess he does a lot of work with antibullying programs in schools and he is actually a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates. I didn't catch his last name, but his first name was Dave.

After that, I went to session on greiving children. The speaker was not as good as the first one, but his material was pretty good.

And then I concluded my day with my big mistake. I played basketball with 9 men for two hours straight. Our team kept winning, so I never sat down. We just played and played. What is wrong with me? Why do I think I am young enough to do that? I am so tired and sore right now. I don't even want to know how I am going to feel tomorrow! My original thought on playing basketball was to just run up and down the court a little and get ready for our faculty game against the Steeler's on May 12. Two hours later I could cry!

Jess, you sound like my brother Steven. He plays softball every year. Last weekend they had their first game of the spring. Steven said he could hardly walk for two days afterwards because he got so out of shape over the winter. That's why I prefer to just avoid too much physical activity in general. :)
