Swine has hit the Beaver Falls Middle School. We have tons of kids out. We haven't confirmed its Swine, but I am sure it is. I put so much hand sanitizer on my hands during an 8 hour school day that I seriously think my skin is just going to peel off!
Corynne has been sick. Not swine sick, but sick. She ran a fever on and off for the past few days. But tylenol and motrin got rid of the fever and then she felt much better. She now has a little cold.
The boys are good. Other than their fevers they got from the flu shots a fews ago, they have been fine.
I think I have decided "no" on the Swine Flu vaccine. I say "I think" because I am not totally sure, but I am leaning that way.
I went running after work today in our fitness center at our school. Why did I do that.? I am so exhausted right now and it is only around 6PM!
I liked the extra hour of sleep this weekend, but I am having a hard time adjusting. I am so exhausted at night.
I miss the warm weather. I wish we could have Indian Summer all winter long.
Isaiah started basketball. One sport ends and another begins.
Corynne wants to be a cheerleader next year. (A for real cheerleader) Are you surprised?
I had to cover a class today. I covered in the Autistic room. You know, I really don't remember having any training or education that would prepare me for that classroom. Because of all the occupational therapy sessions and specialy classes, I only had one student because the others had places to go. The boy I was left with was named Rashan. He had me by about 5 inches and 80 pounds. He played with 7 paperclips for the first 25 minutes I was in there. (Not kidding..he really did) Then he started laughing. Really loud. Next he started talking. Well, he can't really talk. I tried really hard to pull the fragments together of what he was saying. It was not easy. Then, my boy gets up (which made me nervous) and grabs some Little Golden Books. I ended up reading Aladdin and 100 Dalmations to him. He loved it. When we got done, we looked at some of his work. He was matching pictures of dinosaurs. Now, mind you, he can't say his name or anything else clearly, but he can say: Brontesaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and Velosa-Raptor. (I know I spelled some of them wrong, but I am too tired to look them up right now)
It was interesting.
I'm ready for bed!

Ah, the wonderful world of the Autistic classroom! My mom talked me out of going back to school a few years ago to teach Autistic support. I still sort of wish I would have gone back. I have a real soft spot for those kids.
kristen, let me email you a video...i took one today of the kids!
Awww, cool story about your time with the boy with Autism.
Today a student gave me a gift. She cut three things out of the newspaper and glued them to a used paper plate. There was a picture of LeBron, a memorial poem for a dead girl, and an ad for curtains. I love being a special ed teacher.
Hope you stay swine free. Honestly I didn't think it was that bad when I had it (not that I want it again or want anyone else to get it). It felt like a short cold with a fever for a couple days. My symptoms were the same as Corynne's. We've had hundreds of kids out over the past few weeks, all with the fever/cough/swine. Most of them feel better in a few days. I got the regular flu a few years ago and I was much much sicker than I was with Swine.
