I successfully made it through my first week of school. We don't have air conditioning in my building so it was very hot. The heat doesn't bother me too much. I would much rather it be unbearable hot than cold! But the heat did effect everyone else. The staff was very grouchy last week. The students were absolutley miserable. We did get some relief from the heat when we spent some time in our new state of the art computer lab. It is air conditioned to keep the machines working properly. It is funny how the district is able to air condition the rooms they want to air condition. This got me to thinking though. This year I got five new flat screen Dell comuters in my room. I also got a brand new Eno board. It is AWESOME!!! The Eno board is kind of like a smart board, but much cooler. It basically is a huge computer screen up on the wall. I am really looking forward to using this in my teaching. But anyway, that has to be a great deal of money invested into my classroom. And all of the classrooms have had some technology upgrades like my room. So won't the heat eventually damage all these new machines?? My room is hot 5 out of 12 months each year. That heat can't be good for the computers. Oh well...guess that is really not my concern.

My classes seem okay so far, although the kids are always on their honeymoon period the first two weeks. Their true colors start showing somewhere in the third to fourth week of school. Some kids will show their colors sooner. I have a couple of those this year. But with a lot of prayer, I know I will make it.

Corynne and Jeremiah and Isaiah start school tomorrow. They are so cute. They all got their bookbags and clothes ready tonight for their first day. I am so sad that my little girl is getting so big. I am happy for her going to first grade, but also just wondering where the time has gone.

I think Cory will probably do a few happy dances tomorrow because all the kids are finally going to school all day.

Jordan is safely back to W&J. I didn't cry this time. His room is so nice. He is staying in a suite with three other boys. Each boy has his own room. They share a living room and a bathroom. The suite is huge and is airconditioned. This is the first year he actually has somewhere decent to stay. And he won't have to worry about sharing his sleeping area with a roommate who would rather have sex with his girlfriend than do anything else! That irritated me so bad. Jordan had to call his roommate all the time to see if it was okay if he could come home. That's crazy. His dorm is brand new. And my cousin, Vicki, has a room right above Jordan. They are excited about that. (Oh yeah, by the way, it is a co-ed dorm :(

Isaiah got a concussion last week at his football game. He got his bell rung! He was taking off the lead runner on a punt, and some kid hit him helmet to helmet. Isaiah laid there for awhile, then he got up and tried to run. He fell back down. He looked like he was drunk. It was awful. Normally when Isaiah is hurt, I don't go running down to check on him, but when I saw him do all that, I did run down there. It just didn't look right. We took him to the ER. He got a cat scan and tons of xrays. Thank God everything was alright with him. He had to take a week off of football. He rested really well last week and now he is ready get back to it.

Jeremiah is doing great in football. He didn't have great game last week, so Cory took a bunch of pictures of him. Then Cory sat him down and showed him play by play all he had done right and what he didn't do well. It really helped because he is doing much better. Cory had to tell him that it's okay to be a bully on the football field. His school has a huge Stand Tall anti-bullying program. He prides himself in being in the Principal's Stand Tall club. He works very hard to be nice and do nice things so that nothing would jeopardize his membership in the club. Cory assured him that he could be a little bit mean on the field. Now it helped just a little bit. But this past week's game, he saw a kid on the other team that he had met one day when we went swimming in Ohio. Between plays, he tried to talk to the kid and ask him if he remembered him from swimming. The referee fussed at Jeremiah and told him that he couldn't talk to the other player. The ref probably thought he was junk talking! lol
