School has begun. I am tired. I am not complaining because I am very happy and blessed to be off work for the summer, but it is such an adjustment with all 6 of us going back to school at the same time. Cory started his graduate classes. He has three this semester. Jordan is back at W&J. Isaiah is a freshman in high school. Jeremiah is in 5th; Corynne is in 2nd and I am still in 6th.

I am starting work earlier this school year because our middle school and high school are on the same bus schedule now. I thought I was going to have trouble with the earlier start, but it turns out that I am really liking it. We finish up now at 2:50 so I have plenty of time to get home and pick up the kids from school. My classes are good so far, just much much larger than I am used to. My one class barely fits in my room. Thankfully, they are a nice group of students. We did a lot of reshuffling and reorganizing for this school year due to the budget cuts. Some of those changes have been good, some of the other ones probably not so much. I am keeping an open mind and I am staying positive that I will have a great school year.

Corynne's classroom is in a trailer this year. She loves it. She has air conditioning and ceilings and walls. That's three things she didn't have last year, so we are very happy. Jeremiah is another story. Someone thought it would be a good idea to turn an old swimming pool into a gym. Then that same someone thought it was a good idea to turn that gym into 6 classrooms and separate them with partial walls. I expressed my concerns to this individual over the summer. I was pacified as usual. This are is unbearably hot and viciously noisy. It is so noisy, in fact, that the school has recently ordered microphones for each "classroom". Now I know I do not have any background training in acoustics or the way that sound carries, but my thoughts are that using microphones will actually make it even noisier in that area. I am trying to give everyone invloved the benefit of the doubt before I go over there and start yelling at people. I am going to give it a few more days. Jeremiah has a very difficult time with background noise in the classroom. So sad to report that this area is full of background noise!

But I am also trying to stay positive. I am praying and hoping we have some changes in that school district. I am planning on meeting with the principal and having the Intermediate Unit (IU) perform a Needs Assessement on Jeremiah in that environment to see what we can do to help him hear better.

It just irritates me to no end that I specifically expressed my concerns with this set up...and everything I was concerned about has happened.

The picture above makes me so happy. I miss my Mosesso Family so much and I miss the beach and the ocean too! I love looking at these pictures!
