Some Vacation Highlights:
Beach House: We stayed in an 8 bedroom house in Nags Head, North Carolina. We were right across the street from the ocean, but we had some nice ocean views from the top floor. The house had a pool and a hot tub. The kids absolutely loved the swimming pool. It was a Sunday rental and we found that traveling on a Sunday is much more relaxing than traveling on a Saturday. Palmetto bugs are now plaguing Nags Head. They look like really big roaches and they can fly. (How lovely!) We saw a few on the first floor of the house.
Beach: The ocean was kind of funny this year. There were tons and tons of jelly fish in the water. Everyone who went in the ocean got really itchy. I am not sure if that was because of the jelly fish or not. We caught a few jelly fish and they were very much alive! So we didn't spend too much time in the water, which made me a little bit sad.
Weather: The weather was absolutley beautiful. It rained two times--one night while we slept and the day we left. There was a few days that it got a little bit chilly, but for the most part it was so nice.
Family: I love my extended Mosesso Family and we had such a good time together.
Kitty Hawk Sand Dunes: This year we visited the sand dunes of Kitty Hawk. It is over 500 yards of untouched sand. We had so much fun climbing the dunes and seeing how beautiful that area is.
Sunrise: This year, I woke up extra early to watch the sunrise. I have never actually seen a sunrise before and I was in awe at how beautiful it is. God is amazing.
Food: I ate a lot of crab cake sandwiches. Not sure what constitutes "a lot" but I had quite a few of them. We also had shrimp and barbeque and everything was so good.
Fishing: The boys...my dad, Matt, Cory, Jeremiah and Isaiah went on a chartered fishing trip. They fished right in the ocean and caught tons of blue fish. My dad marinated the blue fish in orange juice, lemon juice and lime juice and fried them up. I am not a fish eater, but that was some delicious fish.
Kids: My children had a blast. We just hung out and basically did whatever we felt like doing. The kids were laughing because pretty much whatever they asked me, I would say: "You can do/have whatever you want." Isaiah got pretty wise and started asking for money! lol
Running: I tried to stick to my schedule of running every day while on vacation. Running had to cease because of Isaiah. We were hanging on the beach one day looking south and Isaiah decided it would be fun to "run" down to the fishing pier that you could faintly see in the distance. So we ran to the pier and back. Later we realized that was a 5 mile trek! I ran barefoot and got a pretty big blister on my big toe. So that pretty much ended the running for the week!
Family photo: I ordered t shirts from a friend of mine at work for my family to wear at the beach. You have to know my family to understand why this was not going to go over too well. The shirts were teal blue and really cute, I thought. But not all family members agreed on the cuteness of the shirts! lol. But after a lot of prodding and a lot of telling people they weren't team players and literally threatening some members with not giving them spaghetti dinner, all family membered donned their shirts for a really cute family picture.
Things I will miss: I will miss having breakfast and coffee with everyone every morning. Today's coffee time was quiet and sad for me. I will miss circle time at the beach. There was a huge group of people next to us on the beach. Everyday in the evening, they were make a huge circle with their chairs and sit and talk to each other. We decided to make our own little circle and talk to each other just like them. Our circle was much smaller, but still fun! I will miss seeing my beautiful niece Avery every day! She is such a sweetie. I will miss hearing the noises of the ocean..the wind and the waves. I will miss walking everywhere barefoot and not putting on makeup! There are lots of other things I will miss as well, but that just means we had a wonderful trip and I am very thankful for that!
All my pictures are on facebook if you want to see more.
