Now Isaiah has strep throat. By the time he got home from school yesterday, his head was pounding and he had a fever. He stayed home from school today. I called the doctor to get an appointment and they told me that between their five different office locations, they were totally booked by 9:00am this morning. And to make matters worse, they wouldn't even schedule me for an appointment tomorrow. How ridiculous is that! So I asked them if I could just bring him in for a throat culture. After they made sure I understood that I wouldn't get to see a doctor, they said that was fine. So the nurse did a throat culture and guess what... He has strep. But it all worked out because he has his antibiotic (which was my main concern) and I didn't have to pay my $20 copay because we didn't see a doctor.
I am keeping a close eye on Jeremiah and Jordan. Corynne is still on her antibiotic for her toe so she should be fine. I think it is psychological, but my throat feels scratchy. The nurse told me to buy new toothbrushes because of the strep. Call me cheap, but decent toothbrushes cost over $4. Now multiply that by the amount of people that live in my house--that gets pretty expensive. Plus we were just at the dentist in January, so our toothbrushes are pretty new. After I was sick, I put all our toothbrushes in the dishwasher rather than buying new ones. They came out nice and clean. My mom and my husband made fun of me for doing that. I thought it was a good idea. But now that Isaiah has strep, I broke down and bought all new toothbrushes for the family. (No gum stimulators Jame)

I feel so bad for your family! I'm sick of everyone being sick! This has been a bad winter, I hope everyone else in your family stays healthy!! I think you are right, it's psychological that your throat feels scratchy...take some extra vitamin c and you should be able to fight "this thing"
about the toothbrushes, i'm ripping right along with your mom and cory...even though they are expensive it's probably cheaper to buy new brushes than to take the whole family to the doctors and buy antibiotics! actually, i'm a little suprised at this because you are usually such a "worry wort" about germs!
jes the first thing they tell you after your sick is to get new toothbrushes. you should try zicam at the first sign of any cold it is zinc and seems to work.
Stephanie, I knew you'd have something to say about that one. But guess what, Stef did the same thing with Sydney's toothbrush. So I don't feel bad. I was actually proud of myself because I thought it was a good idea. Maybe I will send that idea into Good Housekeeping or something and get 50 bucks.
