Our Weekend Getaway

We had such a nice time this weekend in Erie. We got there around 4:30 on Friday. After we checked into our hotel, we went to Red Lobster for dinner. Cory had a gift certificate from his work so we wanted to use it. We arrived at Red Lobster at exactly 5:00 PM. We could not find one single place to park in the parking lot and there were people waiting inside for tables. So we decided to shop a bit and come back later. We tried to go back around 7:30 and it was still super busy. So we ended up going to Damon's. I got grilled shrimp. It was okay--But I've had better at my dad's house! (smile)

Corynne needed some spring clothes really bad. So I shopped for her this weekend. I also got the kids their stuff for their Easter baskets. I am so proud of myself that I will not be running around on Easter Eve trying to get them their stuff!

We did go to Red Loster on Saturday after our nap. Yes, that is right. I got to take a nap this weekend. We went to dinner at 4:00 and we got seated right away! It was very good! I got the Ultimate Feast. I always get that. It has lobster, shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, and crab legs. You get a little taste of everything.

The weather was really rainy and cold all day on Saturday. So we went to Barnes and Nobles. That is one of my favorite places to go when Cory and I go away. I got a Nonfat Vanilla Cappucino from Starbucks** and found me a nice quiet comfortable place to read. I brought my own reading materials though. I have to read this sixth grade book in order to decide if I want to teach it or not. I think I have decided not to teach it, but I still have a few chapters to go. After that, we went indoor miniature golfing. Cory won this time! I'm glad he won because I think he gets a little sad when I beat him at things like that. Then Cory hit golf balls at the indoor driving range and I once again found a comfortable seat and I read that book again. Then we went back to the hotel. I walked 3 miles on a the treadmill. They had a tv in the exercise room and one of my favorite movies was on--"The Net" with Sandra Bullock. I love anything she plays in. (except "Hope Floats" and "Ya Ya Secrets of Divine Sisterhood"--those two movies make me sad)

We got up this morning and the weather was beautiful. So Cory hit some more golf balls and I walked on the treadmill again. There were no Sandra Bullock movies on so I had to settle for CNN. I only walked 2 miles today! After that we checked out of our hotel and went to Presque Isle and walked a little bit there. Some guys were fishing, so of course we had to stop and talk to them and ask them what they were fishing for and if they caught anything. Then Cory told me how they were fishing the wrong way. Seriously, how do you fish the wrong way?! He disagrees with me, but I still think fishing is all luck. (Expect to see a comment on this statement that I just made by my Uncle Mike!)

After walking, we went to Ruby Tuesdays for lunch. How bout there were four booths side by side. We were in one. Two very loud ladies were in the other one. In the third booth, there was a mom, a dad, their four year old son, their three year old daughter and a 10 month old baby. Then in the fourth booth, there was another family with three children. Those kids were so loud and so whiny that I couldn't even believe it! The one little boy was actually crawling on the table and the ten month old baby was whipping toys and food across the dining room! Unbelievable. I told Cory that our kids are really good when we take them out. He always thinks they act up. And they do--but it was nothing compared to that! So, so much for our "quiet" lunch!

I missed my kids so much. Cory only missed Corynne! He is terrible. I couldn't wait to see them. Corynne hung on me pretty much all night. But I didn't mind because I missed holding her.

We really had a wonderful time.

**I actually went to Starbucks three times this weekend and I tried something new. I got a Nonfat Carmel Cafe Latte. I have no idea what the difference is between a Cafe Lattes and a Cappucinos! But it was good.

I'm glad you guys had fun...I bet the kids missed you both two! Two questions:

1. What did you finally give Cory for his anniversary present?
2. What did you get the kids for their Easter baskets?

I have a great fishing story to tell Cory...it's more dramatic when told in person, so I'll wait.

I'm so EXCITED that we aren't reading that book, it's for BOYS!!!

I am happy you guys had a great time; I miss doing things like that. My 25th anniversary is coming in May and I am going to tell Errol we just have to go away for the weekend. You made me Godly jealous.

Jess, Jess, Jess.....If fishing was all luck then one must agree that occasionally the odds would fall evenly between two or more people in the same space at the same time...especially if the same people had multiple fishing excursions over a number of years and varied conditions. This said explain to me how your Uncle Chris can not only catch more fish but at times even shuts me out....hmmmmm...I take it back, your right, its all luck..;-)
